Natural, Non-Toxic House Cleaning for Brisbane's North
Beyond Clean Living is natural, fragrance-free house cleaning for Brisbane's north, run under the oversight of naturopath Belinda Byrnes. We clean with non-toxic products by default, no harsh chemicals and no synthetic fragrance, and we go detail-deep into the places standard cleaners skip.
Every home starts with a one-off reset deep clean, then moves to weekly or fortnightly maintenance across the suburbs within roughly 10km of Gaythorne. The result is a home that helps reduce common household triggers like dust, allergens and VOCs, and simply feels healthier to live in.
In short
Beyond Clean Living is a natural, fragrance-free house cleaning service for Brisbane's north, run under the oversight of naturopath Belinda Byrnes.
We clean with non-toxic products by default (no harsh chemicals, no synthetic fragrance) and go detail-deep: under beds, behind furniture, skirting boards, high and low corners.
Every home starts with a one-off reset deep clean, then moves to weekly or fortnightly maintenance within roughly 10km of Gaythorne.
The goal is a home that helps reduce common household triggers like dust, allergens and VOCs, and simply feels healthier to live in.
Most cleaning services sell you a shine. We sell you a home that is genuinely healthier to breathe, touch and live in. Beyond Clean Living is natural, fragrance-free house cleaning for Brisbane's north, built around a simple idea: the products a cleaner brings into your house should not add to the chemical load you are trying to keep out of it.
Founded and overseen by naturopath Belinda Byrnes, our small trained team cleans the way a health-conscious parent cleans their own home, because that is exactly where it started. We are cleaning-led and health-differentiated: you get a spotless, detail-obsessed clean, delivered without the harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrance that most commodity maid services still spray through your living space.
Why natural, non-toxic cleaning matters for your home
The average home is cleaned with products chosen for speed and shelf appeal, not for the people living there. Conventional cleaners lean on strong solvents, chlorine-based disinfectants and heavy synthetic fragrance to signal that a room is clean. That signal is a smell, not a health outcome, and it lingers on surfaces and in the air long after the cleaner has left.
A natural, non-toxic approach flips the priority. We clean thoroughly and physically remove the things that build up in a lived-in house: dust, pet dander, pollen tracked in from the garden, and the residue of the products used before us. A well-cleaned surface that is not then re-coated in fragrance and solvent is the point. This is how a clean home helps reduce common household triggers rather than swapping one set of irritants for another.
This matters more in Brisbane's north than most people realise. Older Queenslander and post-war homes, humidity, and a lot of soft furnishing and carpet mean dust and moisture have plenty of places to settle. A clean that reaches the places dust actually collects, done with products that do not leave their own footprint, supports a healthier home environment for the whole household. If you want the deeper version of that assessment, our naturopath-led home health review walks your home and reports on what it finds.
To be clear about scope: a clean home helps reduce common everyday triggers like dust, allergens, synthetic fragrance and pet dander, but cleaning is not medical treatment and results vary from home to home. Nothing here treats, cures or prevents any condition. Anything health-related should stay complementary to, never a replacement for, advice from your own doctor or specialist.
The products we use (fragrance-free, no harsh chemicals) and what we never use
This is the part most cleaning companies keep vague, and it is the part we lead with. Ingredient transparency is the whole point of a health-led clean, so here is our standard in plain terms.
What we clean with
We use fragrance-free, low-tox cleaning products chosen because they clean effectively without loading your air and surfaces with synthetic scent or aggressive solvents. Where a simple, well-understood natural cleaner does the job (the kind of gentle acid, mild alkaline and plant-based surfactant combinations that have cleaned homes for generations), that is what we reach for first. We match the product to the surface so your benchtops, timber, glass and bathrooms are all cleaned correctly, not blitzed with one harsh all-purpose spray.
The short answer
- Fragrance-free by default, so there is no synthetic perfume left hanging in the air after we leave
- No harsh chemical smell, because a clean home should smell like nothing, not like a citrus factory
- Products matched to each surface rather than one aggressive spray used on everything
- Microfibre and physical removal do the heavy lifting, so we rely on genuine cleaning rather than strong chemistry to mask it
What we never bring into your home
- Synthetic air fresheners, plug-ins and fragranced sprays that leave a scent trail
- Harsh chlorine bleach and ammonia-based cleaners as a default go-to
- Heavily perfumed all-purpose products that trade a clean result for a strong smell
- Anything chosen purely for speed at the expense of what ends up in your air
Fragrance-free is not an upgrade you have to ask for. It is simply how we clean every home, every visit. If you have specific sensitivities or a particular product you want us to use or avoid, tell us and we will build it into your plan. Our full natural, non-toxic product standard is designed around allergy-friendly homes.
Here is the actual standard, because vague words like eco and green are precisely the problem. Every product we bring into your home is fragrance-free, and beyond that we exclude a specific list of things.
- Synthetic fragrance and parfum, in every product, without exception
- Hormone-disrupting chemicals
- SLS, parabens and phthalates
- Antibacterial agents including triclosan, and anything else that disrupts the skin, gut or respiratory microbiome
- Bleach
- Dyes and added colours
- Essential oils, which we avoid as a rule
The essential oil exclusion is where we part company with most natural cleaners. A great many eco products lean on citrus or lavender oil so a room smells clean. Essential oils are still fragrance, and they are still a common trigger, so for a household managing eczema or asthma that is not a neutral choice. We leave them out.
How we clean well without harsh chemistry
The fair question is whether cleaning this way actually works. It does, and the reason is that the chemicals were never doing most of the work to begin with.
- Professional HEPA vacuums, which capture fine dust rather than redistributing it back into the room
- The right brush for the surface, rather than one spray for everything
- Steel wool where a surface can take it
- Citric acid for stubborn mineral build-up and soap scum
- Time, and physical effort, which is the part a commodity clean cuts first
A cheap clean is priced on speed, so harsh chemistry gets used to compensate for the minutes nobody is paying for. We price the time instead. That is the whole difference, and it is why the result holds without anything aggressive going into the air you breathe afterwards.
What's included: room-by-room
A Beyond Clean Living visit is a full-home clean, not a surface wipe of the rooms that show. Here is what a standard maintenance clean covers across the house.
Kitchen
- Benchtops, splashback and sink cleaned and left streak-free
- Stovetop and range hood exterior degreased
- Exterior of cupboards, appliances and the fridge front wiped down
- Floors vacuumed and mopped, including along the edges and into corners
Bathrooms and laundry
- Showers, screens, baths and tiles cleaned, with attention to grout lines and soap build-up
- Toilets cleaned inside and out, including the base and behind the bowl
- Mirrors, vanities, taps and fittings polished
- Surface mould wiped from tiles and seals where it is safe to do so, and flagged to you if it looks like more than surface level
Bedrooms and living areas
- Dusting of surfaces, sills, shelves, skirting boards and reachable high and low corners
- Under beds and behind furniture reached, not skipped
- Floors vacuumed and mopped or carpets vacuumed thoroughly, edges included
- Mirrors and glass surfaces cleaned, and general tidying of surfaces as agreed
Exact inclusions, add-ons (such as inside-oven, inside-windows or inside-fridge cleans) and visit duration are confirmed in your quote so you know precisely what each visit covers.
What standard cleaners skip (under beds, behind furniture, skirting boards, high and low corners)
Flat-rate maid services are built around a clock. The faster a home is cleaned, the more profitable the job, so the work naturally drifts to the surfaces you see first: the middle of the floor, the benchtop, the visible half of the bathroom. The places dust actually accumulates get a pass.
Those places are exactly where a health-led clean earns its keep. Dust is not just on show surfaces, it settles and compacts in the still air under beds, behind bedside tables, along the tops of skirting boards, in the high corners where cobwebs form and the low corners a mop never quite reaches. This is where allergens, pet dander and general household dust build up over weeks, and it is the difference between a home that looks clean and one that is clean.
The short answer
- Under beds and behind furniture, where dust settles undisturbed for weeks
- Skirting boards and architraves, a magnet for dust that most cleaners never touch
- High corners, cornices and the tops of door frames
- Low corners and floor edges, the strip a mop pushes past rather than cleans
We treat these as standard, not extras. It is the single clearest reason our clients notice the difference in the first fortnight. There is more on this in our field notes on the corners standard cleaners skip.
The reset deep clean first, then weekly or fortnightly maintenance
You cannot maintain a standard you have not set. That is why every new home starts with a one-off reset: a thorough deep clean that brings the whole house up to our baseline before ongoing visits begin.
The reset is where we clear the built-up backlog: the accumulated dust in the skipped places, the soap and grout build-up in the bathrooms, the grease behind the kitchen, the corners and edges that have not been properly cleaned in a long time. It is slower and more detailed than a maintenance visit by design, and it is what makes every clean afterwards efficient and consistent.
From there we move to a rhythm that suits your home, either weekly or fortnightly. Because the reset has already done the heavy lifting, maintenance visits stay sharp and focused: we keep the whole house at the reset standard rather than fighting a backlog every time. You can read the detail of each stage on our deep clean reset and weekly or fortnightly maintenance pages.
- 1Book a free quote and, if you want it, a home health review walk-through
- 2We complete the one-off reset deep clean to set the baseline across the whole house
- 3We move to weekly or fortnightly maintenance on a schedule that fits your household
- 4The same small trained team keeps your home at that standard, visit after visit
Meet Belinda: naturopath-led standards and the Home Health Review
Beyond Clean Living was founded by Belinda Byrnes, a naturopath whose clinical work centres on families, children and skin health. Her approach is built on a root-cause philosophy: look deeper, do not just mask the symptom. That lens is exactly what she brought to cleaning.
When Belinda looks at a home, she does not just see mess, she sees the sources of the everyday triggers a household lives with: dust load, air and water quality, moisture and mould risk, and the cleaning products already under the sink. She oversees and trains our small team to clean to that standard, so even though she does not personally clean every home, her approach runs through every visit.
Belinda separately runs a naturopathy practice. The 2 businesses are deliberately distinct. Beyond Clean Living is a cleaning service, not a health treatment, and a clean home is never a treatment for any condition. What her background gives you is a genuinely different standard of what clean means and why it matters.
That thinking is also a standalone service. The naturopath-led home health review is a walk-through of your home assessing air quality, water quality, dust load, mould risk and the products in use, ending in a written report with recommendations. It works on its own or as the ideal precursor to setting up a cleaning plan.
I care about what my own family breathes and touches at home. Every home we clean gets held to that same standard.
Our satisfaction promise
We hold a high standard and we stand behind it. If something in a clean is not right, tell us and we will put it right. Our detail-obsessed reset-then-maintain model exists precisely so that the standard is consistent and easy to hold us to.
If something we have agreed to clean has been missed, or has not been done properly, tell us within 7 days and we will happily come back and put it right at no charge. Your clean is booked for a set amount of time and we work through your agreed list thoroughly, so if particular areas matter most to you, tell us before we start and we will prioritise them.

Some things are done on rotation, not every visit
Cleaning every high and detailed surface on every single visit is not a good use of your money, because most of them do not need it that often. So the everyday surfaces are done each time, and the higher detail work moves through on a rotation across visits.
- Ceiling fans
- Light fittings
- Cornices
- Air-conditioning vents and filters
- Blinds
- Interior windows
- Other higher or more detailed areas that do not need attention every time
It means nothing quietly accumulates in the places people forget, without you paying for the same ceiling fan to be wiped fortnightly when it did not need it.
We do not leave early
Once a home is well maintained, the standard list stops taking as long. Most services would finish up and go.
We use the remaining time instead. Under the kitchen sink, a shelf in the back of a cupboard, inside the fridge, whatever is genuinely due some attention that visit. You booked the time and you get the time, which is why a maintained home keeps getting better rather than simply staying level.
If you want a home that is genuinely cleaner and free of the harsh chemicals and synthetic fragrance most services still use, this is where to start. Tell us about your home, your suburb and how often you would like us, and we will put together a clear quote covering the reset and your ongoing visits.
There is no obligation and no pressure. Request your free quote and we will get back to you with the detail, or add a home health review if you want the deeper assessment first.
Frequently asked questions
Is natural cleaning actually as effective as cleaning with harsh chemicals?
Yes. Most of what a clean home needs is thorough physical removal of dust, grime and residue, done with the right product matched to each surface. We rely on genuine cleaning and microfibre rather than strong chemistry to mask a job. The result is a home that is properly clean without the synthetic fragrance and solvent residue left behind by conventional products.
Are your products safe around children and pets?
We clean with fragrance-free, low-tox products chosen specifically to avoid the harsh solvents and heavy synthetic fragrance found in many conventional cleaners, which is exactly why families with young children and pets come to us. If anyone in your home has particular sensitivities, tell us and we will tailor the products for your visit. This supports a healthier home environment but is not medical advice, so anything health-specific should stay complementary to guidance from your own doctor.
Do I have to start with the reset deep clean?
Yes, every new home begins with a one-off reset. It clears the built-up backlog in the places standard cleaners skip and sets the baseline, which is what keeps every weekly or fortnightly visit afterwards efficient and consistent. You cannot maintain a standard that has not been set first.
Do you handle mould?
We wipe surface mould from tiles and seals where it is safe to do so, and during a home health review we assess and flag mould risk in a written report. We are not remediators, so full mould remediation is a specialist's job. If we spot signs that go beyond surface level, we will tell you so you can get the right professional involved.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based around Gaythorne and clean homes within roughly 10km across Brisbane's north and north-west, including Enoggera, Mitchelton, Everton Park, Ashgrove, The Gap, Keperra, Stafford, Grange, Newmarket, Alderley and Ferny Grove. If you are unsure whether your street is inside the zone, just ask when you request a quote.
