Home Health Review: A Naturopath-Led Look at Your Home
The Home Health Review is a practitioner-led walk-through of your house, room by room, looking at the things most cleaning companies never think to examine: the air you breathe, the moisture your home holds, the dust load building where no one looks, and the products already under your sink. It is led by Belinda Byrnes, a practising Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist, and it ends in a written report you keep.
Book it on its own, or as the first step before your first clean, so the cleaning that follows is aimed at what your home actually needs rather than a generic checklist.
In short
A Home Health Review is a naturopath-led walk-through of your home, assessing air quality, moisture and mould risk, dust load, and the cleaning products you currently use.
It ends in a written report with practical, prioritised recommendations you keep. Book it standalone, or as the precursor to your first clean.
We flag mould risk and clean surface mould only where safe. We assess and recommend; we never diagnose or treat, and it is complementary to (not a replacement for) your doctor's advice. Individual results vary.
What a Home Health Review is
A Home Health Review is an in-home assessment led by Belinda Byrnes, founder of Beyond Clean Living and a practising Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist. She walks your home the way a practitioner walks a case: looking past the surface for the sources of common household triggers rather than just the symptoms of a home that feels stuffy, dusty, or damp.
Most cleaning companies quote off a room count and a postcode. This is the opposite. Before anyone lifts a cloth, we look at what your home is actually holding: where air sits still, where moisture lingers, where dust accumulates out of sight, and what you are currently spraying onto the surfaces your family touches every day. The review reframes cleaning as a home environment decision, which is the lens Belinda brings from her separate naturopathy practice, where she works with families on a root-cause philosophy: look deeper, do not just mask the symptom.
Important: a Home Health Review is a home environment assessment, not a health consultation. It is complementary to, not a replacement for, advice from your doctor or specialist. We assess your home and recommend changes to it. We never diagnose, treat, or comment on any medical condition, and individual results vary.
What the walk-through covers: air, water, dust load, mould risk, current products
The review is structured around 5 things standard cleaning ignores entirely. Each one is a common source of the triggers that build up in a lived-in home.
- Air quality: how air moves (or does not) through each room, ventilation, stuffiness, and the everyday sources of indoor air pollutants such as synthetic fragrance and VOCs from conventional cleaning and household products.
- Water quality: a practical look at the water your household uses day to day, and where that is worth a closer look.
- Dust load: where dust genuinely accumulates, under beds, behind furniture, along skirting boards, in the high and low corners standard cleaners skip, because that is where allergens and dust mites concentrate.
- Mould risk: the damp-prone zones, poor airflow, and moisture traps that raise the risk of mould taking hold, particularly relevant in Brisbane's subtropical climate.
- Current products: an honest audit of what is already under your sink, so you can see which everyday products are quietly adding fragrance, harsh chemicals, and VOCs to your indoor air.
Everything Beyond Clean Living cleans with is fragrance-free and free of harsh chemicals by default, not as an opt-in extra. Part of the review is showing you where a genuinely low-tox swap makes a real difference, and where it simply does not matter.
How the assessment works, step by step
The process is deliberately simple for you and thorough on our side.
- 1Book the review and tell us a little about your home and what is prompting you to look closer.
- 2Belinda (or a trained team member she oversees) walks the home with you, room by room, assessing air, moisture, dust load, mould risk, and your current products.
- 3We note the specifics as we go: the actual corners, the actual damp spots, the actual products, not a generic template.
- 4You receive a written report with prioritised, practical recommendations.
- 5If you choose, we turn that report into a cleaning plan, starting with a deep-clean reset and moving into ongoing maintenance.
The naturopath lens is what makes this hard to copy. Belinda is a mother of 2 boys and genuinely cares about what her own family breathes and touches, so the noticing is real: the corner that never dries, the plug-in air freshener quietly loading the air, the spot behind the bed head where dust has built for years. You can read more about what a naturopath notices walking into your home on the blog.
Your written report and practical recommendations
You do not walk away from a Home Health Review with a vague feeling that you should probably do better. You walk away with a document. The written report lists what we found, room by room, and gives you clear, prioritised recommendations you can act on, whether or not you ever book a clean with us.
Recommendations are practical and specific to your home: the products worth replacing, the moisture zones worth watching, the ventilation habits worth changing, and the dust-prone areas that need a different cleaning approach. Where mould risk is present, the report says so plainly and tells you what sits within a cleaner's scope and what needs a specialist. The report is yours to keep and revisit.
Standalone, or as a precursor to your first clean
The Home Health Review works 2 ways. Some people book it purely for the assessment: they want a clear-eyed, practitioner-led read on their home and a report they can act on themselves. That is a complete service on its own.
Others use it as the entry point to cleaning. When the review leads into service, the findings shape the work: your first deep-clean reset targets the specific problem areas the review surfaced, and your ongoing weekly or fortnightly maintenance keeps them in check. It means the cleaning is aimed at what your home actually needs, which is the difference between our natural, non-toxic house cleaning and a commodity flat-rate service.
What it is not: we flag mould risk and clean surface mould only, not a remediation service
Being clear about the edges of this service matters. A Home Health Review flags mould risk: it identifies the conditions and locations where mould is more likely to develop, and points them out in your report. Belinda is a naturopath, not a mould remediator.
When it comes to cleaning, we clean surface mould only, and only where it is safe to do so. Established mould, mould behind walls or in building materials, and anything beyond a surface wipe is a job for a licensed remediation specialist. We will tell you plainly when what you are looking at crosses that line. If you own an older home, mould risk in Queenslander homes is worth reading before your review.
Brisbane's north: subtropical humidity and why it matters
Brisbane's north and north-west sit in a humid, subtropical climate, and that changes what a healthy home needs. Warm, moist air holds longer in rooms with poor airflow. Older Queenslanders, renovated cottages, and homes with subfloor or bathroom ventilation issues are all more prone to the damp conditions that raise mould risk and lift dust-mite and allergen loads.
This is exactly why a local, in-home review beats a generic checklist. We serve homes within roughly 10km of Gaythorne, including Enoggera, Mitchelton, Everton Park, Ashgrove, and The Gap, and we know how these suburbs and these housing styles behave through a humid summer. The review reads your specific home in its specific climate, not a home in the abstract.
Assessment only vs assessment plus clean
Here is how the 2 ways of using a Home Health Review compare, so you can pick the right starting point.
The short answer
- Assessment only: the full room-by-room walk-through, the air, water, dust, mould-risk and product review, and your written report with prioritised recommendations. You act on it yourself. Best if you want expert eyes and a plan, but intend to do the work independently.
- Assessment plus clean: everything in the assessment, plus the report translated into a cleaning plan. Your deep-clean reset targets the exact problem areas found, then ongoing maintenance keeps them managed. Best if you want the findings actually acted on, consistently, by a trained team.
- Both paths give you the same review and the same report. The only difference is whether you want us to carry out the work the report recommends.
Important scope: assess and recommend, never diagnose or treat
Beyond Clean Living and Belinda's naturopathy practice are 2 distinct businesses, and this page is about the cleaning business. A Home Health Review assesses your home environment and recommends changes to it. It is not naturopathic treatment, it is not a health consultation, and a clean does not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
We use careful language on purpose. A healthier home environment helps reduce common household triggers such as dust, allergens, synthetic fragrance, VOCs, and pet dander. That is an environmental outcome, not a medical one. Anything to do with your health, your skin, your breathing, or a specific condition stays with your doctor or specialist, and our work is complementary to, not a replacement for, their advice. Individual results vary.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Home Health Review?
It is a naturopath-led, in-home walk-through of your house that assesses air quality, water, dust load, mould risk, and the cleaning products you currently use. It ends in a written report with practical recommendations you keep. It assesses your home environment and does not diagnose or treat any health condition.
Do I have to book a clean as well?
No. The Home Health Review is a complete service on its own. Many people book it purely for the assessment and the written report, then act on the recommendations themselves. If you do want us to carry out the work, the review becomes the plan for your first deep-clean reset and ongoing maintenance.
Do you remove or remediate mould?
No. We flag mould risk in the review and identify the damp-prone areas where mould is more likely to develop. When cleaning, we clean surface mould only, and only where it is safe. Established mould or mould in building materials is a job for a licensed remediation specialist, and we will tell you plainly when that is the case.
Is this a health or medical consultation?
No. Although the review is led by a practising naturopath, it assesses your home environment, not your health. It is complementary to, not a replacement for, advice from your doctor or specialist, and individual results vary. Beyond Clean Living and Belinda's separate naturopathy practice are distinct businesses.
Which areas do you cover for a Home Health Review?
We serve Brisbane's north and north-west, within roughly 10km of Gaythorne, including Enoggera, Mitchelton, Everton Park, Ashgrove, Keperra, Stafford, and The Gap. If you are unsure whether your suburb is covered, get in touch and we will confirm.
